Candidate for Maryland’s First Congressional District

Hello, my name is George Walish, Jr and thank you for taking the time to visit my website.

I have lived on Maryland’s Eastern Shore full time for nearly 30 years. I have owned homes and lived in Chestertown, St. Michaels, Oxford, and now Earleville. A few years ago I purchased and restored my family’s summer cottage across from Turkey Point at the mouth of the Elk River. My fondest memories as a young boy are summers spent here boating, crabbing, and fishing.

There is an old expression that “You can never go back”… not so!! My appreciation for the unspoiled natural beauty and the wonderful people who make up this special place has never been stronger.

But, something is missing…
Have you ever asked yourself “What is my representative in Congress doing for me?” If you live in Maryland’s First Congressional District, the answer is “Little to nothing.” It’s as if we have no representative at all.
We deserve better!

My Background

During my career I have worked as a construction worker in various building trades including working as a millwright, carpenter, sheet metal worker, and a laborer.

After college, I taught junior high school social studies and coached basketball and baseball.

My career concluded as a senior executive in the automobile industry, spending 30 years there.

Making Things Happen

John Madden, the late, great Superbowl winning football coach and sports commentator once said “There are three kinds of people in the world… Those who make things happen, … those who watch things happen, … and those who don’t know what’s happening.”

My success has been a result of getting the numbers on the score board in business and treating people with respect and dignity. This has been accomplished by possessing a positive attitude.

It is my intention to bring these hard working values to the House of Representatives in Washington D.C. on your behalf by listening to my constituents of Maryland’s First Congressional District and being accountable to you.

A Different World

We are living in a different world today. The Republican Party of today is not the Republican Party of even 10 years ago. I have voted for Republican candidates in the past.

I would humbly ask that you consider voting for the person and not the party.

I will be spending the next year visiting all 11 counties that make up Maryland’s First Congressional District. The objective will be to meet as many residents as I can and listen to your needs and ask for your vote.
